MEDICAL SCRIBING
A medical scribe is someone who specializes in transcribing medical reports and records. This skill is necessary to ensure that all medical records are accurate and up to date. Scribes are critical to the medical office's efficiency and organization. The goal of this position is to help physicians during patient meetings with medical data documentation.
Medical Assistants can remotely view live doctor-patient interactions and accurately document the events and decision-making in order to generate appropriate medical charting.By doing time-consuming clerical responsibilities that would otherwise be allocated to a physician, scribes allow physicians to spend more time with individual patients and increase the overall flow of patients in the department.
Scribes should understand the doctor-patient interaction even if they rely on what the doctor says in their notes. They must also be able to understand whatever medical terminology a doctor employs while speaking with them. If a medical scribe is knowledgeable with enough medical language, they are less likely to make mistakes.
