MEDICAL SCRIBING

                             A medical scribe is a medical practitioner who documents medical information for physicians and other healthcare professionals. As the practitioner examines and interacts with the patient, medical scribes type information into an electronic health record (EHR) system. They also assist with administrative responsibilities such gathering prior medical history, ordering tests, and scheduling follow-up consultations. 

 

A medical scribe's rules and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Maintain patient confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA regulations.

2. Document the patient's medical history, physical exam, and other essential information in the patient's medical record accurately and on time.

3. Assist the physician in managing the patient's care by documenting all orders, referrals, and test results in the patient's medical record.

4. Remain available to the doctor for any inquiries or extra information as needed.

5. Maintain prompt and professional communication with other healthcare providers.
