MEDICAL SCRIBING
Before visits and procedures, a Medical Scribe retrieves and prepares patient records for physicians. They follow doctors on rounds and appointments, transcribing notes, observations, instructions, and other critical information. They collect and process test, procedure, and treatment orders.
As a Medical Scribe, you will provide continuing assistance to the physician by collecting paperwork, obtaining information for patient visits, and collaborating with the physician to provide the most efficient patient care possible.
Medical Scribes must have the following abilities:
- Typing abilities
- Outstanding organizational abilities
- Medical Terminology Knowledge
- Multitasking Capability
- Reliability
A medical scribe's primary purpose is to help improve the overall experience for both the practitioner and the patient. By relieving the provider of the burden of documenting their meeting with a patient, the provider is free to devote their whole attention to their patients.
Scribes are not permitted to make autonomous decisions or translations while capturing or entering information into the health record or EHR other than what the provider directs. One of the abilities required for a medical scribe is accurate typing.
